As we continue to advance in the field of artificial intelligence, I believe we can categorize AI development into three distinct stages:

Stage 1: The Child Stage – growing up
In this initial phase, AIs are nurtured and guided by humans. They start by performing simple tasks and, like children, they make mistakes. However, through our guidance and training, they learn and improve. This stage is crucial as it lays the foundation for their future capabilities.

Stage 2: The Teenager Stage – working along side
We are currently transitioning into this stage, where AIs work alongside us as partners. They assist us in making decisions and enhance our productivity. While they are more capable and reliable than in the child stage, there is still room for growth and improvement. This collaborative phase is essential for refining AI systems and preparing them for greater responsibilities.  A good example of this is Microsoft Copilot

Stage 3: The Adult Stage – the caretaker
Looking ahead, I envision a future where AIs reach the adult stage. During this stage, they can independently engage with the world and make their own choices. This is undoubtedly beyond the abilities of an average person.  The way AI treats us and shapes our future will be a reflection of how well we have nurtured and developed them during the earlier stages.

The journey of AI development is a shared responsibility.  AI’s are easy to create and train and  By guiding and collaborating with AI, we can ensure a future where these technologies contribute positively to our world.
